Abstract:

Disclosed is a thermoelectric conversion element having an improved performance index, which comprises: a substrate (1); two magnetic layers (21, 22) having a direction of magnetisation that is fixed with respect to the substrate (1); and at least one electrode (3) including material having spin orbit interaction. A gap (4) (or dielectric layer of low thermal conductivity) is provided between the magnetic layers (21, 22). The thickness of the gap (4) (or dielectric layer) constitutes a distance within the range at which a magnetic dipole interaction is exerted, and the film thickness of the magnetic layers (21, 22) constitutes a characteristic length within the range determined by the diffusion of magnetic excitation, etc.
