Abstract:
Provided is a thermoelectric generating system with which it is possible to effectively detect abnormalities. The thermoelectric generators of the present invention comprise: a heating part having a heating medium flowpath through which a heating medium flows; a cooling part having a coolant flowpath through which a coolant flows; a thermoelectric element having one surface to which the heating part is provided and another surface to which the cooling part is provided, and which generates electricity as a result of the difference in temperature between the temperature of the coolant and the condensing temperature of the heating medium which undergoes change in latent heat within the heating medium flowpath; a power-generating output detection unit that detects the power-generating output of the thermoelectric element; a heating medium pressure detection unit that detects the pressure of the heating medium; a storage unit on which is pre-stored the relation between the pressure of the heating medium and the power-generating output of the thermoelectric element when the thermoelectric generator is operating normally; and a malfunction detection unit that detects that the thermoelectric generator is malfunctioning, when the relation between the power-generating output detected by the power-generating output detection unit and the pressure detected by the heating medium pressure detection unit is different from the relation stored in the storage unit.
