Abstract:
The thermosetting resin composition of the present invention containing: e.g., (A) a polymer such as is represented by formula (1) having a liquid-crystalline side chain, e.g., a crosslinkable group and a vertically oriented group such as is represented by formula (2); (B) a crosslinking agent; and (C) a solvent is capable of homeotropic alignment without the use of a vertical alignment membrane, and gives a thermosetting membrane or homeotropic alignment phase difference film in which cloudiness (transparency) or surface tackiness is improved. (In the formulas, Y1-Y4 represent single bonds or the like, Y5 represents a benzene ring or the like, m represents an integer of 0-4, and Y6 represents a hydrogen atom, a C1-18 alkyl group, or the like, the total carbon number of the substituents represented by Y2-Y6 being 6-20. In the formulas, X represents a COO group or an OCO group, R represents a fluorine atom, a cyano group, a C1-6 alkyl group, or a C1-6 alkoxy group, n represents an integer of 1-10, and o and p represent integers of 1 or 2.)
