Abstract:
A thick steel plate having excellent cryogenic toughness and an Ni content of 5.50 to 7.50%, wherein a prescribed component composition is satisfied, the volume fraction v of the residual austenite phase that exists at -196°C is 4.0 to 12%, and if the plate thickness is denoted as t, the fracture facet size configuration parameter M value represented by equation (1) is 2.4 or above. In equation (1), DI is a value calculated according to equation (2), and [ ] represents the content of each element in mass%.
