Abstract:
The present invention provides fabric which is suitable for use in sports clothing or materials, such as down wear, down jackets, windbreakers, futons, sleeping bags, rain wear, and tents, and which has a high tear strength although lightweight and thin and has satisfactory wear resistance while retaining low air permeability.
The thin woven fabric according to the present invention is characterized by including synthetic multifilaments which each comprise noncircular monofilaments having an approximately tetragonal cross-sectional fiber shape and which have a total fineness of 5-60 dtex and a single-fiber fineness of 1.0-7.5 dtex, the synthetic multifilaments being contained in an amount of 45 mass% or more per 100 mass% of the thin woven fabric. The thin woven fabric is further characterized in that in a cross-section which is perpendicular to synthetic multifilaments, the length over which any adjoining two of the noncircular monofilaments are in contact with each other is 8-40 µm on average.
