Abstract:

With prior art, plastic deformation of the entire pin tip occurs during compression loading and durability of the threaded joint decreases. The threaded joint is a premium joint, wherein: the pin-side shoulder angle (θ1), the box-side shoulder angle (θ2), the seal interference quantity (δ), and seal point distance (xp) satisfy the relationships of (θ2)−(θ1) = (α) × (δ)/(xp) and (α) = 7 - 14; and the pin tip thickness (tp1), which is defined as the difference (Re) − (Ri) between the radius of the extreme pin tip (Re) and the internal radius of the pin tip (Ri), is at least 0.25 times the thickness of the pin pipe blank (tp0).
