Abstract:
A three-dimensional data encoding method, in which: a determination is made as to whether or not to use an octree structure to encode a subject spatial unit from among a plurality of spatial units included in three-dimensional data (S1522); if it is determined that the subject spatial unit is to be encoded using an octree structure (Yes in S1522), the subject spatial unit is encoded using an octree structure (S1523); if it is determined that the subject spatial unit is not to be encoded with an octree structure (No in S1522), the subject spatial unit is encoded using a method other than an octree structure (S1524); and information indicating whether or not the subject spatial unit has been encoded with an octree structure is added to a bit stream (S1525).
