Abstract:
This three-dimensional data encoding method involves: generating multiple sets of coded data by encoding a plurality of sub spaces obtained by dividing an object space containing a plurality of three-dimensional points (S5061); and generating a bit stream that contains the multiple sets of coded data and first information indicative of the shapes of the multiple sub spaces (S5062). Said shapes may be, for example, either two-dimensional shapes or three-dimensional shapes of the respective sub spaces. Those shapes may be rectangular or circular shapes, for example. The bit stream may also contain second information that indicates, for example, whether or not the plurality of sub spaces overlap with each other.
