Abstract:
[Problem] To achieve stereoscopic display, in a three-dimensional map, while ensuring character visibility. [Solution] When displaying a three-dimensional map, planimetric features are perspectively projected on the basis of a prescribed viewpoint position and a line-of-sight direction, to generate a planimetric-feature image. Furthermore, planar polygons having characters attached thereto are disposed in a virtual three-dimensional space, and parallel projected to generate a character image. The planar polygons are disposed in directions along roads, and are disposed so as to be tilted from the ground surface. The tilt angle between the ground surface and the planar polygons is set on the basis of the road display direction, and the position where the characters are displayed. Accordingly, perspective projection is used to generate the planimetric-feature image, and parallel projection is used to generate the character image, and thus adverse effects such as the crushing of distance characters can be avoided, and display using stereoscopic shapes can be achieved without reducing character visibility.
