Abstract:
A jet engine according to an embodiment of the present invention has four lift nozzles and one main nozzle for vertical takeoff and landing. Therefore, cruising, vertical takeoff and landing, transition flight and the like of an aircraft are achieved by means of vector compositions of thrusts due to gases injected from respective nozzles, and a thrust vectoring apparatus (a gas diverting system) enables a turbine exhaust gas and a fan exhaust compressed air to be appropriately distributed to and injected from respective nozzles in accordance with respective flight modes. An after burner is mounted on a gas pipe or duct connected to the lift nozzles and the main nozzle in the thrust vectoring apparatus (the gas diverting system) and promotes a temporary increase in the thrust by means of fuel injection when necessary.
