Abstract:
The present invention discloses a thulium-doped fiber laser amplifier, which comprises a pump source, a wavelength division multiplexer, a thulium-doped fiber, and a wavelength decomposition multiplexer. The thulium-doped fiber is a double-clad structure. Signal light of 2 μm emitted from a signal source enters the laser amplifier from the outside. The signal light together with the pump light emitted by the pump source enters the wavelength division multiplexer, and, after being coupled by the wavelength division multiplexer, is then transmitted by the thulium-doped fiber to the wave decomposition multiplexer. In the transmission process, the thulium-doped fiber absorbs the pump light and amplifies the signal light, and the wave decomposition multiplexer outputs the remaining pump light and the amplified signal light. The thulium-doped fiber in the laser amplifier provided by the present invention is a double-cladding structure, and readily obtains high coupling efficiency. With long optical fibers as a gain medium, amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) noise in the optical fiber laser amplifier can be suppressed. By using an appropriate pump source (793 nm), the invention can reduce the absorption of signal light by a gain fiber in the short-wavelength region (< 1900 nm) and achieve effective amplification of 2 μm wide-bandwidth signal light, while suppressing ASE noise.
