A tick detection and alert device for use in a neighborhood, and a detection method therefor. The device comprises a detection device and an alert device disposed on a road facility. The detection device comprises a camera device, a data processing device, a storage device, a wireless communication device, and a positioning device. The alert device comprises a projection device, a voice prompt device, and an alarm device. The tick detection and alert device can promptly locate ticks hidden in green belts within a neighborhood and issue alerts about a tick-containing region, so as to drive pets away from the tick-containing region and prevent the ticks from entering the hair of the pets. Moreover, the property management staff can be promptly notified to perform tick removal, and areas requiring tick removal are marked by means of the projection device so as to improve the efficiency of tick removal.
