Abstract:

A relay exchange system in which a plurality of switchboards for switching transmission information contained in frames each consisting of m bits are connected in cascade using a plurality of transmission paths, a pair of multiplexers are provided at both ends of each of the transmission paths, frames each consisting of n (n<m) bits for transmission information and specific frames each consisting of (n-1) bits for transmission information including signaling information of one bit of the in-slot form are transferred through the transmission paths, and the switchboard reforms the received signaling information in the out-slot form again. Every abovesaid specific frame includes information for identifying signaling that indicates the phase of the frame in which the signaling information is inserted. The signaling information is always inserted in the specific frames transmitted between the pairs of multiplexers and between the input and output ports of the switchboards, and the specific frames are always detected on the basis of the identifying information. Therefore, quantizing noise caused by signaling information does not affect the frames other than the specific frame.
