Abstract:
A time synchronization method in which it is possible to select, for a timepiece unit for generating a time signal synchronized with a standard time and outputting the time signal to the exterior, whether to synchronize the clock unit with the time by using time information obtained by receiving radio waves that include information pertaining to the time or by a holdover performed using a clock signal from an interior or an exterior clock source. A schedule for a first synchronization time period that uses the time information, and a second synchronization time period that is based on the holdover is determined according to temporal radio wave reception characteristics at a reception point for the radio waves. In accordance with the schedule, the time information is supplied to the timepiece unit, or the clock signal from the internal or external clock source is supplied to the timepiece unit.
