TIMING CONTROLLER AND CONTROLLING METHOD IN RADIO NETWORK

A radio network controller, i.e. an IP node (1), sends a time stamp request message to a base station, i.e. an IP node (2), at a time of Tsend 1. The Tsend 1 is stored in the time stamp storage area at the originator of time stamp request message. Upon receiving the time stamp request message, the IP node (2) acquires the time Treceive 2 when that message is received and generates a time stamp response message. At a time Tsend 2, the time stamp response message is sent to the IP node (1). The Treceive 2 and the Tsend 2 are stored in the time stamp response message along with the Tsend 1. Upon receiving the time stamp response message, the IP node (1) calculates a transmission time from the IP node (1)to the IP node (2) and a transmission time from the IP node (2)to the IP node (1) based on the Tsend 1, Treceive 2 and Tsend 2 and uses them for timing control.
