Abstract:
This tip manufacturing device, in which a cutting edge is joined to a pedestal, comprises: a first electrode in contact with the pedestal; a second electrode in contact with the cutting edge; a current generator for generating a current flowing between the two electrodes; and a movement device for moving the pedestal in contact with the first electrode and/or the cutting edge in contact with the second electrode in a movement direction. The tip manufacturing method includes: supplying a pedestal; supplying a cutting edge to a recess in the pedestal; pressing the cutting edge against the pedestal; and causing a current to flow across the cutting edge and the pedestal with the pressure being applied. The cutting tool tip is provided with a cutting edge and a pedestal that are joined directly to one another. In the pedestal: the recess has a first surface and a second surface that are adjacent to one another at a prescribed angle; each surface has a protrusion that projects from a contacting surface with which the cutting edge comes into contact; and when the cutting edge is being attached to the recess, the protrusion is softened and is directly joined to the cutting edge.
