Abstract:
Erroneous detection of a side edge of a tire constituent member to be examined placed on a body to be formed is prevented, and abnormality of the position is accurately and reliably detected if any.
An illuminating means (21) and a camera (22) of an examining device (20) are so arranged as to be opposed to a side edge of the body (10) to be formed on a forming drum (2). The illuminating means (21) illuminates the portion to be examined of the body (10) to illuminate a side edge of the tire constituent member, and the camera (22) captures an image. When the position of the side edge of the carcass ply (13) is normal, an examination processing unit (25) sets a detection region in the captured image from which bright parts showing the side edge of a carcass ply (13) is detected. If some bright parts are detected, the number of bright parts between the position in which the bright part is detected in the image and a predetermined reference position of the body (10) is counted. The counted number and the number counted when the position of side edge is normal are compared. If they do not agree with each other, the position of the side edge of the carcass ply (13) is determined to be abnormal.
