Abstract:
Provided is a tire internal failure determination method such that it is possible to accurately determine, without influencing the behavior of a tire, whether or not there a tire internal failure due to separation has occurred. Procedures pertaining to the above are such that tire radial acceleration signals during travel which are detected by an acceleration sensor (11) mounted in the tread widthwise center of the inner surface of the tire are subjected to frequency analysis, resulting in a frequency spectrum being obtained; that with regard to the peaks that appear in this frequency spectrum, the second lowest peak frequency is identified; that a calculation is made of a band value Xab in a specific frequency band [fa, fb] which is within the range of 100 Hz - 400 Hz and includes the second lowest peak frequency; that it is examined whether or not the difference between this band value Xab and a previously obtained band value Yab of a normal tire exceeds a threshold value K; and that if Yab - Xab > K, it is determined that a tire internal failure such as separation has occurred.
