Abstract:
This tire state detection device is provided with a state detection unit, a transmission unit, a reception unit, a control unit, a characteristic detection unit, and a battery that provides a power source for the device. The state detection unit detects the state of a tire, and the transmission unit wirelessly transmits a signal containing information detected by the state detection unit. The reception unit is capable of receiving a signal wirelessly transmitted from an external device, and the control unit performs control on the transmission unit and the reception unit. The characteristic detection unit detects an electrical characteristic of a valve stem. The control unit operates in a control mode selected from: a normal mode in which the reception unit is kept in a standby state so as to be capable of receiving a wirelessly transmitted signal from an external device; and a power-saving mode in which the power consumed to receive the wirelessly transmitted signal from an external device is less than that in the normal mode. The control unit switches the control mode to normal mode when variation in valve stem electrical characteristics detected by the characteristic detection unit exceeds a reference variation, and switches the control mode to power-saving mode when an end condition is met under normal conditions.
