Abstract:
Provided is a method for producing tissue arrays, whereby roll-shaped tissue pieces can be reliably immobilized in a base block even if there are roll-shaped tissue pieces of various diameters. The production method involves producing tissue arrays obtained by arranging roll-shaped tissue pieces (6), which are formed by winding sheet-like tissue pieces (8) into rolls, in an array shape on a substrate. More specifically, tissue arrays are produced by: positioning a holding member (16), which holds a plurality of roll-shaped tissue pieces (6) in such a manner that the axial direction of the roll-shaped tissue pieces (6) faces the vertical direction, inside a container (10) into which a melted embedding medium has been poured and is retained; holding the roll-shaped tissue pieces (6) with the holding member (16); forming a base block (40), which is obtained by pouring the embedding medium into the container (10) and arranging a plurality of roll-shaped tissue pieces (6) in an array shape; slicing the base block (40) in such a manner that the roll-shaped tissue pieces (6) are shaped into round slices; and placing the slices on a substrate.
