CLAIMS:

1. A plumbing item comprising a flush pipe and a vent pipe characterised in that it includes a chosen length of standard diameter flush pipe and a length of standard diameter generally available piping joined at an angle to the flush pipe to constitute a vent pipe.

2. The item as claimed in claim 1 characterised in that the flush pipe is selected from one of the two available diameters, namely 38mm or 44mm, and the generally available piping is 40mm.or 50mm.

3. The item as claimed either of the above claims in which the vent pipe is joined at an angle to the flush pipe to constitute a Y-piece.

Description:

TOILET FLUSHING PIPE

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION

This invention relates to a toilet flushing pipe with ah odour extracting vent pipe, and in particular to banks of toilets having vent pipes communicating with a common manifold for extraction of the foul gases emanating from the toilets.

BACKGROUND ART

The persistence of offensive odours resulting from the use of a toilet is a well known embarrassment and many devices have been invented to have these odours removed as quickly as possible. These devices are not always efficient and are often expensive.

In South Africa and Europe at least, there are only two standard sizes of toilet flush pipe - one of 38mm and one of 43mm; but there is an absence of generally available piping of either of these sizes for use as vent pipes.

In British Patent 2097029 a tee fitting is inserted into an orifice in the flush pipe caused by removal of a length thereof. And the tee fitting is joined to a fan. The flush pipe and vent pipe (ducting) are of the same diameter and the connector (13) is not a specific connector as called for by the present invention.

In British Patent 860212 a connector is provided for the flush pipe to be joined to a vent pipe.

Neither of these British patents address the situation outlined above.

It is an object of the invention to provide an inexpensive item of vent pipe at an angle to a flush pipe for use as described above.

DISCLOSURE OF THE INVENTION

According to the invention a plumbing item comprising a flush pipe and a vent pipe including a chosen length of standard diameter flush pipe and a length of standard diameter generally available piping joined at an angle to the flush pipe to constitute a vent pipe.

In a preferred form of the invention the flush pipe is selected from one of the two available diameters, namely 38mm or 44mm, and the generally available piping is 40mm. or 50mm.

The vent pipe is preferably joined to the flush pipe at an angle to provide a Y-piece.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING

An embodiment of the invention is described below with reference to the accompanying drawing, which is a cross-sectional view.

BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION

In the drawing a flush pipe 10 is of either 38mm or 44mm inside diameter.

A Y-piece is formed of a length having the inside diameter of the flush pipe joined to a length of pipe 12 of readily available standard diameter, such as 40mm, is joined at an angle to the flush pipe in order to manufacture a Y-piece insertable into a flush pipe and the vent pipe for the purpose referred to above.
