Description:

Toilet seat

This invention relates to a toilet seat enabling to properly position a vertebral column of a person seating on said seat and simultaneously ensuring a comfortable and ergonomic seating position. Technical Field

Thus, this invention refers to the field of prophylaxis of vertebral diseases. At present, a human being taking seating position for long hours every day is exposed to problems connected with his motor system, especially with his vertebral column. It is believed that the pandemic spread of vertebral diseases is caused exactly by incorect seating position.

One of the places where a man spends some time every day in a seating position is a toilet seat. Thus, a shape of a toilet seat is very important for a comfortable and proper position of a vertebral column and for a speed of arising irreversible degenerative changes, such as the discopathy. It should be pointed out that 95% of discopathy cases is located in the area of lumbar vertebras. Background Art

Many attempts have been made to provide toilet seats with a shape comfortable for a user and to provide comfort of seating by avoiding a painful pressure onto protruding anatomic elements. For example, from application EP 1457149 there is known an ergonomic toilet seat in a shape of an armchair with higher side parts which provide stabilization and fit to a shape of a person seating on it.

From application US 3,786,522 a toilet seat is known with a curved profile rising from its center to the rims so that a user cannot seat too far on a back part of said toilet seat. A surface of said toilet seat in its front part, where it supports user's tights, is slightly curved and risen in the direction opposite to the back part, in order to decrease the pressure acting onto the tights and to prevent the leg numbness.

Moreover, in application JP 2002291808 there is presented a toilet seat constructed in order to prevent the painful pressure onto buttocks when seating, as well as the pelvis torsion backwards. Such a seat, substantially flat and of

rectangular section in a top view, has two circular surfaces symmetrically located at a level of a central part of an opening in its narrowing in order to support ischiums, small circular surfaces moved towards the back part of said seat to support a pelvis, as well as one longitudinal surface located centrally in the back part of said seat to support a convexity created on the rim of a defecation hole.

Those solutions were focused on the user's comfort and did not ensure effectively the proper position of a vertebral column. The purpose of a toilet seat according to the invention is to force such a body position which establishes proper curvatures of a vertebral column in a natural way, especially in its lumbar part, in order to eliminate forces causing the discopathy. Disclosure of Invention

A toilet seat according to the invention, comprising an opening with the rim and fastening elements, has symmetrical ischiums receiving cavities in an area of its back arc parts where a pelvis contacts with a surface of a seat, wherein a substantially flat upper surface of a seat is inclined forwards. An angle of forward inclination of an upper surface of said seat is from 2 to 10 degrees, advantageously 5 degrees.

Advantageously, ischiums receiving cavities in the area of a back arcs spread from the back part of an opening in the seat to a half of the length of an opening and become gradually more and more shallow towards the front of the seat.

Advantageously, cavities are cushioned with an elastic gel-like material. In one embodiment, sides of the seat are not connected with each other in its front part, leaving a slot from 5 to 10 cm in width.

Because of its forward sloped upper surface, the toilet seat according to the invention enables a more obtuse angle between a tight and a long axis of a body and, thus, it facilitates correct positioning of a pelvis. A correctly sloped pelvis stimulates creation of right curvatures of a vertebral column, especially the lordosis in a lumbar part. In a sitting position gluteus muscles are drawn aside when a correct angle position of a pelvis is held. In that position the whole weight of a body is supported by a small surface of tender ischiums. In order to avoid it the toilet seat has properly located cavities relieving those tender ischiums. Thanks to such a

construction, the whole weight of a sitting person is supported by tissues surrounding ischiums and is distributed onto a greater surface improving the comfort of sitting.

Moreover, the toilet seat according to the invention, apart from its operation directly when used, allows to form correct position habits. Brief Description of Drawings

An advantageous embodiment of a subject of this invention is presented in the drawing in which

Fig. 1 is a plan view of the toilet seat, Fig. 2 is a section of said seat along the A-A line, showing the forward slope of the seat as well as the location of ischiums receiving cavities, and

Fig. 3 is a cross section of the seat in the area of its back arcs along the B-B line where ischium receiving cavities are located. Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention The seat 1 has the opening 2 and the rim 3, fastening elements (not presented), and in the area of back arc parts 4, where a pelvis contacts the upper surface of the seat, it has ischium receiving cavities 5. The back 6 of the seat is higher than its front 7, wherein the substantially flat upper surface of the seat is sloped from the back 6 to the front 7 at an angle α of 2 - 10 degrees, advantageously 5 degrees.

In an advantageous embodiment, the cavities 5 in the area of the back arcs 4 spread from the back part of the opening 2 to a half of its length, and become gradually more and more shallow towards the front.

In one of possible embodiments, sides of the seat in its front part are not connected with each other leaving a slot from 5 to 10 cm in width in the rim 3 of the seat.
