Abstract:
A toner for developing an electrostatic latent image has toner particles containing a toner core and a shell layer covering the surface of the toner core. The shell layer contains a hydrophobic thermoplastic resin and a positively charged hydrophilic water-insoluble resin. The amount A of alkali metal elements present in the surface layer of the shell layer, as measured using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and the amount B of alkali metal elements present in the toner particles overall, as measured using X-ray fluorescence, satisfy formula (a) and formula (b) shown below. A ≤ 300 ppm...(a) 0.5 ≤ A/B < 1.0...(b)
