Abstract:
Provided is a toner having a total volatile organic compound amount (TVOC amount) suppressed to a low level, a low occurrence of fogging even when used in both a low-temperature, low-humidity environment and high-temperature, high-humidity environment, has no occurrence of filming even during continuous printing, and has superior printing durability. The toner contains a binder resin, a wax, a charge control resin, and a coloring agent, and is characterized in that in the gas chromatography analysis of the supernatant obtained as a result of preparing a charge control resin solution by means of dissolving the charge control resin in a first organic solvent and then causing the precipitation of high-molecular-weight components by adding a second organic solvent to the charge control resin solution, the total amount (1) of components detected in a range of peak detection times for hydrocarbons having 5-9 carbon atoms is no greater than 500 ppm in terms of styrene, the total amount (2) of components detected in a range of peak detection times for hydrocarbons having 10-18 carbon atoms is no greater than 5,000 ppm in terms of styrene, and the amount of components corresponding to the greatest peak of hydrocarbons having 10-18 carbon atoms is no greater than 3,000 ppm in terms of styrene.
