Abstract:
Provided is a tonneau cover device (1) for an automobile in which when a storage box (3) is at a setting position (P1), an urging member presses a flap plate (10) up to block an opening part (8), and an upper surface (F3) of the flap plate is set to the same height as a floor surface (F1) of a luggage room (RR) so as to function as a part of the floor surface. When the storage box (3) is stored in a storage compartment (4), the flap plate is pressed down by the storage box so as to enter the storage compartment, and an upper surface (F4) of the storage box is set to the same height as the floor surface of the luggage room so as to function as a part of the floor surface. The above configuration makes it possible: to prevent problems such as an unattractive gap forming between the floor surface of the luggage room and the storage box of a tonneau cover sheet, or small items of luggage entering such a gap, during use and non-use of the tonneau cover sheet; and to increase the range that can be effectively utilized as the floor space of the luggage room on which luggage is placed.
