Title:
TOOL COATED WITH HARD COATING
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2011/058636
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A hard coating is composed of Ala Crb (SiC) c αd N, wherein a SiC (silicon carbide) has been added in a 0.05-0.20 atom ratio to an aluminum rich AlCrN coating having an Al to Cr atom ratio (Cr/Al ratio) in the range of 0.25-0.67, thereby ensuring a predetermined wear resistance while achieving superior heat resistance (oxidation resistance at high temperatures). As a result, it is possible, for example, to conduct high-efficiency processing such as heavy-load cutting with a large volume of cuts, and to cut under harsh conditions where the temperature of the cutting edge increases in cases such as the high-speed cutting of hard materials. Additionally, it is possible to improve tool life and decrease the amount of cutting fluid used in such cutting processes.
