Abstract:
Provided is a tool service life detection device that detects the service life of a tool for machining a workpiece. The tool service life detection device comprises: a machining load measurement device that measures, as a machining load value, a load applied to a tool when a workpiece is machined; and a signal processing device that determines the service life of the tool on the basis of the machining load value, for each performance of machining, measured by the machining load measurement device. The signal processing device calculates, on the basis of the machining load values measure for each number of times of machining, a degree of machining difficulty indicating the degree of difficulty of machining the workpiece, compares the calculated degree of machining difficulty and a determination criteria value indicating a determination criteria for the service life of the tool, and determines that the tool service life has been reached if the degree of processing difficulty exceeds the determination criteria value.
