A toothbrush for animals, especially dogs, capable of cleaning the teeth, gum and mouth by utilizing an ultrasonic wave. The toothbrush comprises a toothbrush body (2) formed like a rod so that an animal holds it in its mouth, and an ultrasonic vibration generating means provided in the toothbrush body. The toothbrush body (2) has a part (3) held by the animal in the mouth, and a grip part (4) which a person grips the toothbrush body (2). The ultrasonic wave generating means provided in the toothbrush body causes cavitation in the saliva and liquefied dentifrice in the mouth to destroy cilia of dental plaque bacteria and insoluble glucan adhering to the surface of teeth and to remove dental plaque by unchaining, thus reducing infection of the bacteria of animal infection disease to persons.
