Abstract:
A toothbrush (1) comprising an elongated handle (11), a base portion (12) provided at a distal end of the handle (11), and a brush portion (20) comprising a plurality of bristles (20a) implanted in the base portion (12) is used for cleaning teeth with the brush portion (20), and is characterized by being provided with: an ultraviolet radiation emitting portion (15) which is disposed in the base portion (12) or in the vicinity thereof to emit ultraviolet radiation; a control portion (33) for controlling the emission of ultraviolet radiation by the ultraviolet radiation emitting portion (15); a power supply portion (35) which supplies power to the ultraviolet radiation emitting portion (15) and the control portion (33); and a manipulation portion (37) which, by being manipulated by a user, makes it possible to manipulate the control function of the control portion (33). The toothbrush makes it possible, in a simple configuration, to effectively decompose (kill) germs which cause tooth decay or periodontal diseases and which reside in the oral cavity, as well as to effectively kill or reduce germs on the toothbrush itself.
