Abstract:
A toroidal continuously variable transmission, comprising input and output disks having traction surfaces of recessed arc shape in cross section formed between small and large diameter end parts and coaxially disposed in the opposed state of the traction surfaces and a power roller frictionally engaged with the traction surfaces of the input and output disks for power transmission, characterized in that at least one of the input disk, output disk, and power roller is formed of an alloy steel including an Mo of 0.15 to 2.0 w.%, and quenched and tempered after carburized or carbonitrided at a temperature of 1000 ° C or higher so that a surface carbon density is 0.8 to 1.4%.
