Title:
TOROIDAL CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2014/148139
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Provided is a toroidal continuously variable transmission capable of preventing the application of bending stress on the variator shaft and eccentric loads on various supporting sections during rotation even if a discrepancy occurs between the axes of the fitting holes formed in the posts and the axis on which the variator shaft is supported. Thrust bearings (12), which position the output disc (10) in the axial direction as well as supporting said output disc (10) so as to rotate freely, are fitted into fitting holes (62b) provided in the posts (61). Between the thrust bearings (12) and the fitting holes (62b), a specified gap (S) is provided in the direction orthogonal to the variator shaft (3). Therefore, even if a misalignment occurs between the axis of the fitting hole and the axis on which the variator shaft is supported, the axes of the thrust bearings (12) and the variator shaft (3) can be aligned in the specified gaps (S) and as a result, application of bending stress on the variator shaft (3) and eccentric loads on various supporting sections during rotation can be prevented.
