Abstract:
A toroidal continuously variable transmission comprising: a preload spring interposed between a power transmission shaft and a rotating body having a first disc and a pressing device; and a thrust bearing interposed between the preload spring and a first member comprising either the rotating body or the power transmission shaft. A gap is formed in the axial direction, between the thrust bearing and a second member comprising the other out of the rotating body and the power transmission shaft. The length of the gap in the axial direction is smaller than the amount of deformation in the axial direction at the elastic limit of the preload spring.
