Abstract:
A toroidal type continuously variable transmission, comprising a pair of disks (5, 10) opposed to each other and a rotor (17) provided in a toroidal space (S) formed between the disks (5, 10), wherein a torque is transmitted between the pair of disks (5, 10) through the rotor (17) and, by detecting the speed of the rotor (17), for example, it is enabled to know what degree the rotor (17) slips relative to the disks (5, 10), whereby the rotor (17) is prevented from being heated to a high temperature, and an optimum traction can be obtained between the rotor (17) and the disks (5, 10).
