Abstract:
Disclosed is a torque converter for a vehicle, which can extend the operating range of a lock-up clutch to the entire RPM range of an engine by increasing the overall torsion angle of a torsional damper when the lock-up clutch operates. The torque converter for a vehicle according to the present invention comprises a lock-up clutch and a torsional damper which comprises: a drive plate for receiving a driving force from the lock-up clutch; multiple power transmission members, each of which having one end thereof hinge-coupled to the drive plate and comprising a first hinge coupling part; a cover plate comprising second hinge coupling parts to which the middle parts of the power transmission members are hinge-coupled; a spring support member which comprises third hinge coupling parts that are hinge-coupled to the other ends of the power transmission members, and which is disposed on the cover plate; multiple springs, each of which has one end thereof elastically supported by the spring support member, and which are disposed on the cover plate along the circumferential direction thereof; and a driven plate for elastically supporting the other ends of the springs and receiving a driving force therefrom.
