Abstract:

A torque detector and electrically assisted bicycle in which wear and rotational resistance of components of a one-way clutch are reduced. The electrically assisted bicycle has the one-way clutch (99) having a piece portion (100) and tooth portion (112) engaging with each other to transmit only rotation in one direction of a drive shaft (4) to a drive wheel, a ring-like permanent magnet (161) fixed to the piece portion (100) sliding in the axial direction depending on pedaling force, three Hall elements (162) arranged at the position where a frame is fixed, and a coned disk spring (137) placed between the piece portion (100) and a supportingdisk (151) so that elastic force of the spring works against axial movement of the piece portion (100) by elastic force of the spring. A microcomputer averages magnetic signals from the Hall elements, estimates pedaling force based on the average magnetic field, and controls auxiliary power at an appropriate assist ratio. Because the coned disk spring (137) rotates together with the drive shaft (4) and the piece portion (100), wear and rotational resistance of the disk spring can be eliminated.
