Abstract:

[Problem] To provide a torque generating device that uses a magnetic viscous fluid and that is suitable for miniaturization and can achieve a large shearing stress. [Solution] The present invention is provided with: a magnetic disk that rotates around a rotation shafts; a first yoke that is positioned on one side sandwiching the rotating disk; and a second yoke that is positioned on the other side sandwiching the rotating disk; a coil that is disposed so as to overlap the magnetic disk as seen in the direction along which the rotation shaft extends; a third yoke having a region which is positioned at least in the vicinity of the magnetic disk, is positioned outside the magnetic disk and the coil, and configures, together with the first yoke and the second yoke, a magnetic path of the magnetic field generated by the coil; and a magnetic viscous fluid that is filled between the magnetic disk, the first yoke, and the second yoke. The third yoke forms a magnetic gap with the first yoke, and the magnetic gap is formed outside the outer peripheral edge of the magnetic disk or in a position that overlaps the outer peripheral edge of the magnetic disk, as seen in the direction along which the rotation shaft extends.
