Abstract:
Provided is a torque generating device which is suitable for miniaturization and with which a large shear stress can be obtained. This torque generating device is provided with: a magnetic disk which can rotate around a rotation axis; a first yoke located on one side and a second yoke located on the other side in a first direction parallel to the rotation axis with the magnetic disk interposed therebetween; a first coil which is disposed on the first yoke side in the first direction and spaced apart from the magnetic disk, and which generates a magnetic field; and a magnetic viscous fluid filled between the first yoke and the second yoke, wherein: the first yoke is provided radially extending between the first coil and the magnetic disk so as to form a first magnetic gap between the first coil and the magnetic disk; and the first magnetic gap has a shape such that the closer to the first coil, the larger the radial width.
