Description:
SPECIFICATION

A TORQUE LIMITER WITH FRICTION LINING SEALING TECHNICAL FIELD

The present invention relates to torque limiters positioned between the engine and the transmission units in vehicles having internal combustion engine. PRIOR ART

Torque limiters are positioned between the engine and transmission units in internal combustion vehicles. Torque limiters prevent the excessive torque from being transmitted to the transmission units when the torque, obtained in the engine, is greater than a specific value.

In the application with number US61 19839A, a torsional vibration damper has primary and secondary masses rotatable with and relative to each other about a common axis, and a torsionally elastic damper which opposes rotation of the masses relative to each other and operates in series with a torque limiting device. The torque limiting device comprises a pair of ring-shaped lateral members flanking a ring-shaped intermediate member which can stress the energy storing elements of the torsionally elastic damper. One of the lateral members is a pre-stressed diaphragm spring which is riveted to the other lateral member. The maximum torque which can be transmitted by the torque limiting device is greater than the maximum torque which can be transmitted by a friction clutch between the secondary mass and the transmission of a motor vehicle. The primary mass can receive torque from the engine of the vehicle.

In the application with number KR101251506B1 , a torsion damper for a hybrid vehicle is provided to protect a transmission and a torsion damper through blocking the transferring of excessive torque due to disorder of vibration of a motor to a transmission. A torsion damper for a hybrid vehicle comprises a inertial plate, a cover plate, a first damper plate, a second damper plate, plurality of compression coil spring, a driven plate, a connecting plate, a torque limiter, and a spline hub. The inertial plate is coupled with the output shaft of an engine. The cover plate forms an oil storage space through being coupled with the inertial plate. The first damper plate and the second damper plate are coupled via the inertial plate to one body. The plurality of compression coil spring absorbs the vibration and impact of rotation direction. The driven plate is installed between the first damper plate and the second damper plate. The driven plate receives reaction force through being supported by the plurality of compression coil spring. The connecting plate connects the plurality of compression coil spring in a row and is installed in the outer circumference of the driven plate. The torque limiter is connected to the driven plate. The spline hub is connected to the torque limiter for transferring the driving force from the torque limiter to a transmission.

In the abovementioned applications, springs are provided which operate in a lubricant. Torque limiter is placed at a region existing in the inner section of these springs. Mixing of lubricant in this torque limiter affects the delimited torque value.

As a result, because of all of the abovementioned problems, an improvement is required in the related technical field. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

In this detailed description, the subject matter torque limiter is explained with references to examples without forming any restrictive effect only in order to make the subject more understandable.

As can be seen in Figure 1 , the subject matter torque limiter (10) essentially has a primary side (20) connected to the gear box and a secondary side (50) connected to the engine. As can be seen in Figures 2, 3 and 4, the primary side (20) has a hub (21 ) connected to the gear box and an intermediate plate (22) connected to said hub (21 ). The intermediate plate (22) is essentially provided in a circular form. There is at least one limiter upper cover (30) and at least one limiter lower cover (31 ) riveted to the intermediate plate (22) in the vicinity of the outer wall (221 ) of the intermediate plate (22). The limiter upper cover (30) and the limiter lower cover (31 ) are provided at the two sides of the intermediate plate (22) and there is a predetermined distance in between.

The secondary side (50) comprises a primary cover (51 ) and a secondary cover (52) provided such that there is a predetermined distance in between. The primary cover (51 ) and the secondary cover (52) are essentially provided in a circular form. In a possible embodiment of the present invention, the secondary cover (52) is flywheel. The primary cover (51 ) and the secondary cover (52) are bent towards each other from the vicinity of the outer walls thereof and they form a hollow circular chamber-like form. In other words, an inner gap (501 ) is obtained inside the secondary side (50). The primary side (20) of the torque limiter (10) at least partially enters into the inner gap (501 ) defined between the primary cover (51 ) and the secondary cover (52). There is at least one curved spring (55) provided in the inner gap (501 ) inside the secondary side (50). In other words, the input element of the secondary side has two covers arranged axially in both sides of the springs. Thus, the springs are guided axially by these two covers. In a possible embodiment of the present invention, the curved spring (55) is provided in a manner drawing an approximately semi-circular form. In a possible embodiment of the present invention, two curved springs (55) are provided. The curved spring (55) is essentially provided in a manner as far as possible from the hub (21 ) between the primary cover (51 ) and the secondary cover (52). Thus, the curved spring (55) can be provided in a manner as long as possible. There is a formed section (53) provided on at least one of the primary cover (51 ) and the secondary cover (52). The formed section (53) is provided in a manner forming a step from one of the primary cover (51 ) and/or the secondary cover (52) towards the other one of the primary cover (51 ) and/or the secondary cover (52). The curved spring (55) is rested to the formed section (53) from one end thereof. In other words, the curved spring (55) is rested onto at least one of the primary cover (51 ) and the secondary cover (52). As can be seen in Figure 5, the curved spring (55) is connected to a drive plate (35). The curved spring (55) is rested onto the drive plate (35) from one side thereof. The drive plate (35) is essentially provided in a circular form. There is a central opening (351 ) at the center of the drive plate (35). Thus, the intermediate plate (22) can enter into the middle of the drive plate (35). There is at least one spring housing (353) provided in the vicinity of the outer wall of the drive plate (35). The curved spring (55) is placed into said spring housing (353). Thus, at least one end of the curved spring (55) is rested to one end of the spring housing (353), in other words, the curved spring (55) is connected to the drive plate (35). When the intermediate plate (22) is placed to the opening (351 ) provided in the middle section of the drive plate (35), the limiter lower cover (30) and the limiter upper cover (31 ) connected to the intermediate plate (22) extend towards the two sides of the drive plate (35). There is at least one each friction linings (32) provided at the two sides of the drive plate (35). There is at least one pressure plate (33) provided in the vicinity of one of the friction linings (32) and the pressure plate (33) is pushed towards the drive plate (35) by means of a diaphragm (34). Thus, via the press force obtained by means of compressing the diaphragm (34) between the pressure plate (33) and the limiter lower cover (31 ), the friction linings (32) are compressed between the limiter upper cover (30) and the pressure plate (33). Depending on this, the rotational movements coming to the drive plate (35) can be transmitted to the intermediate plate (22). In the subject matter torque limiter (10), the rotational movement, coming to the secondary side (50) connected to the engine, is primarily transferred from the primary cover (51 ) and from the secondary cover (52) to the curved spring (54). The curved spring (55) dampens the vibrations coming from the engine and transfers said vibrations to the drive plate (35). The rotation in the drive plate (35) is transferred to the intermediate plate (22) and to the hub (21 ) by means of friction linings (32). Thus, rotation is transferred to the gear box connected to the hub (21 ).

Thanks to the usage of curved spring (55), the dampening performance is increased. Moreover, since the curved spring (55) is positioned in a close manner to the outer wall of the torque limiter (10), the curved spring (55) can be provided at a length which is as long as possible. Thanks to the long structure of the curved spring (55), the force exerted by the curved spring (55) is lower than the force exerted by the straight helical springs for unit elastic deformation. Thanks to this, the vibrations in different frequencies can be isolated. Thanks to this, by usage of the curved spring (55), the vibration dampening performance of the torque limiter (10) is increased.

In a possible embodiment of the present invention, a lubricant (56) is provided at the section where the curved spring (55) exists. In a possible embodiment of the present invention, grease oil is used as lubricant (56). In a possible embodiment of the present invention, the curved spring (55) is provided in a partially embedded manner inside the lubricant (56). Thus, operation of the curved spring (55) inside the lubricant (56) is provided. By means of this, the frictions between the curved spring (55) and the other components are reduced and abrasion, heating problems are prevented.

There is at least one spring guide (54) extending along one side of the curved spring (55). The spring guide (54) is provided between the primary cover (51 ) and the secondary cover (52) along the longitudinal side of the curved spring (55). Thus, the contact of the curved spring (55) to the primary cover (51 ) and to the secondary cover (52) is interrupted except the end parts of the curved spring (55). The spring guide (54) is provided in a form compliant to the form of the curved spring (55). In other words, the spring guide (54) is provided in a semi-circular form. Moreover, the spring guide (54) has a semi-circular cross section.

Since the intermediate plate (22) is positioned in an opening (351 ) provided in the middle of the drive plate (35), the movements of the drive plate (35) except rotational movement are limited. In other words, in case misalignments occurs in the friction linings (32) due to high level of torque, the drive plate (35) may slide and the center thereof may displace. Meanwhile, the outer wall (221 ) of the intermediate plate (22) is rested onto an inner wall (352) of the opening (351 ) at the drive plate (35) and further displacement of the drive plate (35) is prevented. In a possible embodiment of the present invention, there is at least one protrusion (222) on the outer wall (221 ) of the intermediate plate (22). Preferably pluralities of protrusions (222) are provided, such that there is a predetermined distance in between, along the outer wall (221 ). In case displacement occurs in the drive plate (35) thanks to said protrusion (222), the inner wall (352) of the drive plate (35) contacts the protrusions (222). Thus, the contact area between the drive plate (35) and the intermediate plate (22) decreases. In an alternative embodiment of the present invention, the protrusions (222) can also be provided on the inner wall (352) of the drive plate (35).

Thanks to said embodiment, axial displacement during slippage of the friction linings (32) is prevented. However, thanks to the formed constructional structure, openings are formed which may lead to dust entry to the vicinity of the curved spring (55) and to the sections where friction linings (32) exist.

In a possible embodiment of the present invention, at least one sealing ring (41 ) is provided on the outer wall of the pressure plate (33) and on at least one of the limiter upper cover (30) and the limiter lower cover (31 ). The sealing ring (41 ) is provided in C-like form and it is fixed in a manner engaging to the wall. Moreover, the sealing ring (41 ) comprises at least one lip (41 1 ) extending towards the drive plate (35). Thereby, lubricant and dust passage from the section, where the curved spring (55) exists, to the section where the friction linings (32) exist, is prevented, and in a similar manner, dust passage from the section, where the friction linings (32) exist, to the section where the curved spring (55) exists, is prevented.

There is at least one elastic sealing element (40) extending between limiter upper cover (30) and the primary cover (51 ). The elastic sealing element (40) is preferably rested to the sealing ring (41 ) from one end thereof. Thanks to the elastic sealing element (40), dust entry towards the section, where the curved spring (55) exists, is prevented. At the same time, the elastic sealing element (40) pushes the limiter upper cover (30) towards the secondary cover (52). There is at least one sealing element (42) provided between the limiter lower cover (31 ) and the secondary cover (52). Since the elastic sealing element (40) pushes the limiter upper cover (30), the limiter lower cover (31 ), connected to the limiter upper cover (30) in a rigid manner, is also pushed and the sealing element (42) is compressed between the limiter lower cover (31 ) and the secondary cover (52). Thanks to the sealing element (42), dust entry to the side, where the curved spring (55) exists, through between the limiter lower cover (31 ) and the secondary cover (52) is prevented. On the other hand, at least one flexible washer (43) is provided between the section, where the pressure plate (33) is connected to the limiter lower cover (31 ), and the hub (21 ) side. While said flexible washer (43) is connected to the limiter lower cover (31 ) from one end, it pushes a plastic gasket (44) towards the secondary cover (52) from the other end. Thus, thanks to the flexible washer (43) and the plastic gasket (44), entry of dust and foreign substances to the section, where the friction linings (32) exist, and to the section, where the curved spring (55) exists, through the openings, provided on the limiter lower cover (31 ), is prevented.

In figure 5 and 6 and 7, we see that each sealing ring 41 has a mounting portion having an annular cavity engaged with the periphery of the limiter upper cover 30 or pressure plate 33. In a plane comprising the axis of rotation of the torque limiter and crossing the sealing ring 41 , the mounting portion has a U shape, the periphery of the limiter upper cover 30 or pressure plate 33 being arranged inside the U shape.

The lip 41 1 of the sealing ring 41 covers a friction lining in a radially upper region of the friction lining. The lip 41 1 extends from the mounting portion towards the drive plate 35.

The protection scope of the present invention is set forth in the annexed claims and cannot be restricted to the illustrative disclosures given above, under the detailed description. It is because a person skilled in the relevant art can obviously produce similar embodiments under the light of the foregoing disclosures, without departing from the main principles of the present invention.
