Abstract:
This torque sensor is provided with: an annular deformable body; first and second displacement electrodes that generate displacement due to elastic deformation of the annular deformable body; first and second fixed electrodes that are disposed at positions facing the first and second displacement electrodes; and a detection circuit that outputs, on the basis of variation of the capacitance values of the first and second capacitive elements configured from the displacement electrodes and the fixed electrodes, electric signals indicating torque. The annular deformable body has a high-resilient portion, and a low-resilient portion having a spring constant that is smaller than that of the high-resilient portion. The detection circuit outputs, as electric signals indicating operated torque, first electric signals corresponding to the capacitance value of the first capacitive element, and second electric signals corresponding to the capacitance value of the second capacitive element, and determines, on the basis of the ratio between the first electric signals and the second electric signals, whether the torque sensor is normally functioning or not.
