A touch panel system is provided with: a touch panel comprising a plurality of drive lines that form capacitance between a plurality of sense lines and other sense lines that are provided so as to intersect with the aforementioned sense lines; a touch panel controller that processes the signals of the sense lines; and a drive line drive circuit for driving the drive lines in parallel. The touch panel controller comprises: a subtraction unit for calculating the difference between the signals of sense lines that are adjacent to one another; a decoding unit that calculates the difference distribution of the capacitance by calculating the inner product of the code sequence for driving the drive lines in parallel and a difference that corresponds to the code sequence; a touch detection unit that obtains touch information on the basis of the difference distribution of the capacitance that is calculated by the decoding unit; and a region-setting unit that sets an active region on the touch panel on the basis of the touch information.
