Disclosed are a touchpad-based method for unlocking a terminal and an electronic device, wherein said method comprises: continuously acquiring continuous event information collected by a touchpad, the continuous event information being instruction information continuously entered by a user by means of the touchpad; determining an unlocking operation instruction entered by the user according to the continuous event information; judging whether the unlocking operation instruction matches a pre-set standard unlocking instruction, and executing an unlocking operation when the unlocking operation instruction matches the pre-set standard unlocking instruction. By means of said method, continuous events of a VR wearable device touchpad may be responded to, and when a terminal needs to be unlocked, a user may directly complete the operation by means of the touchpad of the VR wearable device, without having to detach a mobile phone and use a touch screen thereof to complete the operation, simplifying the operation process while increasing operation efficiency.
