Abstract:
A traffic jam condition detection device and method. The device includes: an extraction unit used for extracting, according to a background model, a foreground image from an inputting image; a calculation unit used for calculating a jam index according to the number of foreground pixels of the foreground image in a preset area and the number of pixels of the inputting image in the preset area; a detection unit used for detecting the traffic jam condition according to the jam index. A jam index is calculated according to the number of foreground pixels of the foreground image in a preset area, and the number of pixels of the inputting image in the preset area, so as to detect the traffic jam condition, and realize an accurate real time detection, good robustness and strong noise tolerance.
