Abstract:
This traffic signal detection device uses an imaging unit (11) mounted on a vehicle to acquire images of the periphery of the vehicle. A signal light detection unit (22) detects, from the images, signal lights that vary in brightness in synchrony with the alternating current cycle of the power. An image overlay unit (21) generates a superimposed image by superimposing images (28) taken at different times by the imaging unit (11) so as to maintain the positions of the images of signal lights detected from the images taken at different times. A traffic signal recognition unit (26) uses the superimposed image to recognize traffic signals that include a signal light.
