Abstract:
A train position detecting unit in a train control device according to an embodiment of the present invention detects the traveling position of a train. A storage unit stores the traveling position of the train when loss of contact of a current collecting device occurs. Thus, by referring to the storage unit and to the position of the train, if the train travels through a certain segment including the position in which contact was lost, an onboard control unit can allow the train to coast in said certain segment, thereby reducing deteriorations in the ride resulting from an interruption in powering or an interruption in regenerative braking caused by the loss of contact, and reducing damage to the overhead line or the third rail resulting from arc discharge.
