Abstract:
A train coupling control system controls the approach of a second train (102) to a first train (101) on the basis of inter-vehicle distance information measured by a ranging means (109) for measuring the inter-vehicle distance between trains. At least one of the first train (101) and the second train (102) is equipped with a speed measuring means (103, 104) for measuring the speed of the train, and, based on a measured value during the interval between a first time and a second time, integrates relative speed information between the first train (101) and the second train (102). A diagnostic unit (110) compares an amount of change in the calculated inter-vehicle distance with an amount of change in the inter-vehicle distance information measured by the ranging means (109) and, when the comparison result is within a predetermined range, determines that the ranging means (109) has integrity. This makes it possible to more safely and appropriately perform an automatic coupling control for running trains without adding a new sensor even when the accuracy of the measured distance data is not sufficiently guaranteed due to a failure of the ranging device (109) or bad conditions of surrounding environment.
