Abstract:
A transaction system effectively functioning when a system using a conventional clearance card is changed to a system using an IC card type clearance card, thereby contributing to spread of the IC card type clearance card. When a person who has input authentication data is authenticated to be a user of a card (10) by an authentication unit (27), transaction information read out by a magnetic stripe reader (24) and transaction authentication information read out by a memory reader (22) are transmitted from a transaction terminal apparatus (20) to a host server (30). In the host server (30), a transaction is performed by using the transaction information and the transaction authentication information from the transaction terminal apparatus (20). During this transaction, data is written into a memory (12) of the card (10) by a memory writer (23) or the content of the memory (12) is updated.
