Abstract:
A transdermal patch for delivering a vitamin B12 comprising at least three layers is developed. The transdermal patch comprises a first layer comprising at least one side adhesive surface configured to adhere to the skin, a second layer comprising a nanofiber scaffold configured such that the vitamin B12 encapsulated within nanofibers configured to deliver the vitamin B12, and a third layer configured to protect the nanofiber scaffold. Applying the transdermal patch results in delivering vitamin B12 without any side effects as well as any need for intrinsic factor (IF) to absorb the vitamin B12 by the skin.
