Abstract:
A novel transition metal compound represented by general formula (I) (wherein each symbol is as defined in the specification), and an olefin polymerization catalyst containing (A) the transition metal compound (I), (B) an active cocatalyst such as a compound capable of reacting with the metal compound or a derivative thereof to give an ionic complex, and, if necessary, (C) an organoaluminum compound. The transition metal compound is useful as a component of the olefin polymerization catalyst, and the olefin polymer produced by using this catalyst has a narrow molecular weight distribution and a comparatively wide composition distribution.
