Abstract:
The present invention enables display of subtitles to be excellently performed during RAP reproduction and variable-speed reproduction. In the present invention, a video stream composed of video packets each including encoded image data is generated in a payload. A subtitle stream composed of subtitle packets each having subtitle information is generated in the payload. A multiplexed stream composed of container packets obtained by packetizing the video stream and the subtitle stream is generated and transmitted. Into a header of a particular container packet the payload of which includes the first byte of a subtitle packet, first identification information indicating that the payload includes the first byte is inserted. For example, the first identification information further indicates the subtitle display priority based on subtitle information of the subtitle packet having the first byte included in the payload of the particular container packet.
