Abstract:
Provided is a transmission device with which it is possible to solve the problem of an increase in the size and cost of a communication device. Light monitoring units (331A and 331B) are provided in correspondence with each of multiple paths which transmit a wavelength-multiplexed signal, wherein multiple optical wavelength signals having different wavelengths are multiplexed, and the light monitoring units detect the light level of the wavelength-multiplexed signal transmitted in the corresponding path, or the optical wavelength signals included in that wavelength-multiplexed signal. A switching unit (332) selects any of the multiple paths and outputs the wavelength-multiplexed signal transmitted in the selected path, or the optical wavelength signals included in that wavelength-multiplexed signal, as an optical signal. On the basis of the light levels detected by the light monitoring units (331A and 331B) and the optical signal output from the switching unit (332), a signal processing unit (333) detects obstructions occurring in the paths, and changes the path selected by the switching unit (332) in accordance with the detection result.
